The village Sarod, District Bharuch, Gujarat, India Pin Code 392180 was originally known as 'SAHIL-E-ROOD" (A Persian word) meaning the bank of a river. It was established by Mahmud Begda R.A. a sultan of Pathan Dynasty in the 15th Century A.D. This beautiful village is situated at the junction where river Mahi Sagar falls into the Bay of Cambay, Arabian Sea and hence it was rightly named as SAHIL (edge/bank) of a river.

My name is Mohammad Asif Rehmutullah Ismail Sarodi. I am the nephew of the late Yakub Ismail Sarodi, who passed away at the age of 87. Like my parents, my uncle devoted his life to charity work. He was both articulate and highly educated, despite growing up in a working-class and poor environment. This background stemmed from the early loss of my grandfather, which left my uncle, father, and aunts with limited financial resources—a challenge that many in India and around the world still face.
Given these challenges, completing his higher education was a tremendous achievement for my uncle, who also began supporting others from a very young age. My father worked tirelessly to establish a local mosque in Greater London, now known as Seven Kings Masjid. He served as the first president and remained a trustee for many years. Despite not owning a car, he walked everywhere—whether to gain council permissions in the early 1970s or to contribute to charity work. I learned early on the deep respect and support he always showed for my mother. Remarkably, even while battling cancer until the age of 75, my father continued to welcome guests into our home.
My late mother, Aisha Rehmutullah Ismail Sarodi (née Birader), similarly dedicated her life to the community. From the 1970s, she organized local Islamic classes every Sunday, teaching women both the basic tenets of Islam and more advanced topics. Her commitment to charity continued throughout her life until her passing at the age of 81 in 2019.
In 2008, I created the original website, mysarod.com, and I continue to maintain the current sarodvillage.com
